VINTNER'S HALL OF FAME Robert Mondavi was nominated and inducted into the Vintners Hall of Fame by the Culinary Institute of America. The election was based upon ballots from seventy wine journalists. The decision for their election of Mondavi is for contributions to the wine industry of California during his life-time. Inductions with Robert Mondavi on March 7, 2007 included Agoston Haraszthy, Andre Tchelistcheff, Georges de Latour, Charles Krug, Gustave Niebaum, Brother Timothy, Maynard Amerine and Harold Olmo.

LATEST WORLD RECORD! The Royal Cliff Beach Resort has set a world record with three of its restaurants winning the most prestigious "Best of Award of Excellence" 2007 from the Wine Spectator magazine of New York. The restaurants which simultaneously won the coveted awards are Grill Room & Wine Cellar (International grilled specialities), Rossini (Italian Cuisine) and Chrysanthemum Palace (Cantonese Cuisine). This achievement is a WORLD RECORD since it is the first time that three such awards have been won by one property in one calendar year anywhere in the world! The Best of Award of Excellence is the magazine’s prestigious award, created to give special recognition to restaurants that clearly exceed the requirements of its basic Award of Excellence with their wine lists displaying vintage depth or excellent breadth across several wine regions. Previously, the Grill Room & Wine Cellar received the basic Award of Excellence in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 and Rossini was the recipient in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Following a successful Wine World Wonders Gala Dinner organised recently, the Royal Cliff Wine Club is preparing to host yet another very special event – Exclusive Tasting of Robert Mondavi Wines – for its privileged members.

This event is truly special as it offers to be a tribute to the legendary Robert Mondavi, the father of the American wine industry, who passed away on 16 May.

Featuring a total of 6 fabulous Mondavi wines, the sit-down tasting will be held in the Orchid Ballroom, Royal Cliff Grand & Spa, on Thursday, 24 July 2008.

Co-sponsored by Ambrose Wine Ltd, Bangkok, the event will have none other than Mr. Matthew Morrissy, Regional Director - Asia, Constellation Wines International, as the guest speaker.

As some of you are aware, Matthew is responsible for the management of all Robert Mondavi wines as well as a vast number of wineries encompassing several wine producing countries. He is also an International wine judge at major wine shows.
