The entire group will be accommodated within the property’s four 5-star hotels and the various competition venues spanning across the impressive self-sufficient convention hall, PEACH.

The main host of the event is The Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) and seven other organizations namely : The Promotion of Academic Olympiad and Development of Science Education Foundation under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra (POSN), Kasetsat University, Chulalongkorn University, Burapha University, Assumption University, The National Science and Technology Development Agency and Pattaya City. Apart from these main organizations, there are also many other organizations providing support for the Olympiad in terms of monetary donations and equipment support.

The IOI 2011 is set to inspire students all over Thailand who have yet to show interest in computer science and programming to focus of the Olympiad. Interested students and adults will be able to participate in the competition both by keeping up-to-date with the realtime scores of the 82 teams via the website at and by viewing the science and computer exhibitions at the competition venue. This year’s Olympiad also aims to increase the number of students applying to represent Thailand in the IOI from the current level of 2,000, which is a relatively low figure compared to other academic competitions where applications often are double fold and can reach as many as 10,000 students.

In addition, the government hopes that Thailand will benefit from hosting IOI 2011 especially in terms of education development; where the aim is to attract the attention of students through the competition and to interest them in studying science and computer programming.

The IOI 2011 committee has already selected the four top students to represent Thailand for this year’s Olympiad. They are Pasin Manoorungsri, Lopnachai Jirachupan, Witchakorn Kamolpornvijit and Sorawit Suriyakarn.

The goals of the IOI are to bring together, and give deserving recognition to young students from around the globe who are skilled in informatics (computer science). At the same time, to foster friendship amongst these students who are from diverse cultures to share scientific and cultural experience. IOI is one of the most recognized computer science competitions in the world, winners of which belong to the best young computer scientists in the world. As an IOI medalist, doors will open for a place in the most prestigious industries and universities of the world, related to Computer Science and Information Technologies.
