THE 23RD INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIAD IN INFORMATICS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED AT THE PATTAYA EXHIBITION AND CONVENTION HALL (PEACH), ROYAL CLIFF HOTELS GROUP

 
The Closing Ceremony held at PEACH ended with mesmerizing Thai cultural shows and the award presentation where 151 winners received the gold, silver and bronze recognition, amidst cheers from all attendees.

The overall competition results were announced by the Chairman of IOI 2011, Dr. Kanchit Malaivongs. The four top scorers were Gennady Korotkevich of Belarus with an amazing full score of 600; followed by Fan Haoqiang of China closely behind with 599 points. Pavel Kunyavskiy from Russian came in third and fourth was Felipe Souza of Brazil. Thailand’s Pasin Manurangsi and Sorawit Suriyakarn came in 14th and 24th respectively, winning the Kingdom gold medals as well. Thailand’s two other participants, each earned a silver and bronze medal respectively.

President of IOI, Mr. Arturo Cepeda also gave his comments on the overall image of the competition and on the success of the event in Thailand. This followed by the ‘Presentation of the Flag’ to represent next year’s representative for IOI 2012, Dr. Giuseppe Colosio, Chairman of IOI Italy Committee. The IOI 2012 will be held at the historic and cultural city of Sirmione on the Garda Lake, in the Northeast of Italy.

The property’s General Manager, Mr. Joachim Grill was at hand to present the ‘Green Certificate’ to Dr. Kanchit Malaivongs, Chairman of the IOI 2011 and to Associate Prof. Dr. Tatchai Sumitra, Chairman of the Sponsorship Committee. The ‘Green Certificate’ is awarded to selected organizations for having taken great steps in helping to safeguard the environment, and help reduce global warming by opting to have their event at PEACH. The event resulted in the reduction of many emissions, pollution and use of natural resources following the ‘Initiative on Green meeting’, the extensive and heavily implemented environmentally friendly initiatives and policies in place at the Royal Cliff Hotels Group and PEACH which have already served to improve the local environment and community.

This highly demanding 8-day event came to a close with a ‘Colourful Pattaya Beach Party’ themed dinner at the Infini Pool, Royal Cliff Beach Hotel. The entire swimming pool area was transformed into a colourful carnival atmosphere where the hotel group’s chefs showcased an extravagant buffet spread with succulent seafood, meats and freshly cooked international and local dishes. The evening also featured many interactive activities and performances to entertain the guests.
