DeVine Wine Club Members Experience “A Taste of Veneto”


Pattaya, Thailand – Discerning wine lovers were in for an exquisite experience as the deVine Wine Club of the Royal Cliff Hotels Group recently hosted “A Taste of Veneto”, an Italian Wine Dinner on the evening of April 17, 2015 at the Royal Grill Room & Wine Cellar.

The occasion was an exceptional opportunity for deVine Wine Club members and guests to indulge in a sumptuous 5-course dinner paired with fine Italian wines from the Cielo e Terra Winery, one of the oldest family-owned wine estates in the north of Italy.  The evening commenced with a delectable cocktail reception at The Bar of the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel where Mrs. Panga Vathanakul, Managing Director of the Royal Cliff Hotels Group and Mr. Antonello Passa, General Manager of the Royal Cliff Hotels Group and Acting President of the deVine Wine Club were present to warmly welcome each guest.  Wine aficionados started the night lingering on chilled Freschello Rosato NV while savoring a selection of homemade Italian antipasti.

Highlighting this exciting gastronomic occasion, Chef Walter Thenisch and his award-winning culinary team prepared a riveting 5-course menu to complement each bottle of Italian wine that was showcased in the event.  The meal begun with an appetizing sun-dried tomato, green asparagus & king prawn carpaccio laced with lemon oil paired with Sante Rive Soave D.O.C 2012.  It was followed by the creative and rich Fargotelli “carbonara” with Pinot Grigio I.G.T. 2012 and   fresh line-caught cod fillet, porcini mushrooms, creamy potato puree, figs & parma ham with Carbernet Sauvignon I.G.T. 2012.   The unforgettable main course consisted of delectable herb & garlic-marinated Victorian lamb loin, Roman-style gnocchi & spring vegetables which were complimented by the Sangiovese I.G.T. 2012. For dessert, guests savored delicious apple semolina tart, strawberry panna cotta & homemade Stracciatella ice cream which were served with the Prosecco Brut, D.O.C NV. The meal was capped off with a choice of coffee or tea and chocolate amoretto with kirsch.

All throughout the event, guests had the great opportunity to explore the world of Italian wines via the expertise of Mr. Michele Di Lorenzo, a trader with more than 10 years’ experience in liaising between producers and importers of the European and South East Asian wine market, who was the evening’s wine specialist and guest speaker.

The deVine Wine Club was launched on April 28, 2001 as the visible face of the resort’s enthusiasm for promoting wines and hosting wine-related events. Today, membership has grown substantially and it is now Asia’s leading wine club which frequently hosts popular wine dinners.
