Pattaya Hotel Review from Long-Time Guests

Paul & Marianne Saich have been visiting the Royal Cliff for decades.  

When asked how long ago their first visit was, we were absolutely delighted by their answer.

 “A long time ago, so long we can’t remember. I’m pretty sure it was 2003,” they said.

Paul & Marianne have consistently stayed at the Royal Cliff every year with the exception of the years of the COVID pandemic. They often come together, but at times their children have also visited our property along with them.

During their most recent stay with us, they were kind enough to spare us a bit of their time to answer some questions we had regarding their loyalty and enthusiasm for the Royal Cliff hotels.

1. What made you choose the Royal Cliff for your very first stay?

“Very close friends of ours first stayed at the Royal Cliff for their honeymoon back in 1987 and frequently returned, almost every year. They always told us we’d love it and should come with them one year. Once we did, we were hooked. We really couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else in Pattaya.”

2. What is it specifically about the Royal Cliff that makes you book again rather than try somewhere new?

“This is a very difficult question to answer. There isn’t any one thing; there are multiple reasons why we return to the Royal Cliff. Firstly, and probably most importantly, we feel very safe and secure anywhere within the resort. You can see this is a high priority for the owners. It’s their own safety too. Where else can you stay where the owners believe in their product so much that they choose to live on site? We also really enjoy the open space and many different areas within the resort. It doesn’t matter how busy the resort is, you can always find somewhere to sit and relax without it feeling crowded.”

3. Is there a particular part of the property that you find yourself returning to every visit like a ritual?

“Breezeo is by far our favourite spot. When we first visited, it didn’t exist and we loved to sit there on the beach, relax with a drink or two. We always said to the staff this spot would make an amazing restaurant/bar and then one year, we returned and there was Breezeo! We also really enjoy the Sunset Bar. Many a happy evening has been spent enjoying a cocktail or two watching the amazing sunsets Pattaya has to offer overlooking the Gulf of Thailand and Koh Larn.”

4. Is there a staff member whose name you actually remember and look forward to seeing again?

“Far too many to mention. There have been some really memorable members of staff over the years that have all gone above and beyond to ensure we have had the best stay possible. Current staff members who without the Royal Cliff wouldn’t seem the same who’s efforts to ensure our stay is perfect and who we look forward to seeing each year are to name just a few: Somchai, Noo, Wilasinee, and last but not least, good old Choke, who always makes us laugh. Not to mention the owners and their family too, who always go out of their way to ensure you’re enjoying your stay. “

5. Is there anything you always make sure first-time visitors to the Royal Cliff don’t miss?

“Another difficult question to answer. People have different ideas on how to relax and enjoy themselves, but you have to ensure you try as many of the pool areas as you can. There really is a lot to choose from. And the many restaurants. Maharani is one of favourites along with Breezeo. The panoramic views from the Panorama restaurant are also not to be missed.”

Then finally, when asked what the Royal Cliff means to them in just a few words, here’s what Khun Paul & Khun Marianne had to say:  

“The Royal Cliff really does feel like our home from home in the sunshine.”
