At one of the most popular islands near Pattaya, you can visit 5 different popular beaches: Tawaen Beach, Sangwan Beach, Samae Beach, Tien Beach, and Thong Lang Beach. Tawaen Beach is considered the most popular among the island, with its stretch of coast dotted with many restaurants and shops. However, if you’re seeking a truly underrated and lesser-known treasure, journey to the north of the island to find Ta Yai Beach. Koh Sri Chang 

Located about 25 kilometers from Pattaya, Koh Sri Chang is one of the islands near Pattaya known for being the once-favored go-to summer retreat for royals and a harbor for merchant ships. It allures visitors with its beautiful beaches, relaxed atmosphere, and a unique blend of natural beauty and historical charm. Here, you can truly experience the more laidback side of island life in Thailand while enjoying remnants of its royal history. 

Home to the only royal residence in Thailand sited on an island, visitors can visit the Phra Chudadhuj Ratchathan (also known as the Sichang Palace). It’s the royal summer palace built in 1892 during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, boasting a unique mix of both Thai and Western architectural styles. Close to the sea, the notable Asadang Bridge stretches into the ocean in front of it. It was built by King Chulalongkorn to celebrate the recovery of his son of the same name – Prince Asdang Dejavudh – when he had fallen ill to a disease at just three years of age.

To get to Koh Sichang from Pattaya, you will have to travel from Pattaya to Sri Racha by car, and then a ferry to the island from Koh Loi Pier in Sri Racha. The journey takes about 45 minutes by ferry once you’re on the water. Daily ferry schedules may vary, so it’s advised for travelers to confirm the schedule with the ferry operator before traveling there.

Koh Sak 

One of the closest islands near Pattaya, Koh Sak is a horse-shoe shaped isle approximately 10 kilometers away. Known for its clear turquoise waters, white sand beach, and rich marine life, it’s a popular destination for scuba diving and snorkeling. Visitors love to explore the vibrant coral reefs nearby. You can get to Koh Sak from Pattaya via speedboat; there are many to be hired that depart from Pattaya Beach or Bali Hai Pier. The journey takes approximately one hour.

Koh Samaesarn 

Located nearly 40 kilometers from Pattaya, Koh Samaesarn is a small island in Sattahip district of the Chonburi province. While modest in size, it offers fantastic sightseeing opportunities. This island is one of the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. This project promotes the island as a place of learning and conservative traveling. 

To get here, you must first travel from Pattaya to Sattahip, which is approximately a 45-minute car ride. Once at Sattahip, you can purchase a boat ticket to Koh Samaesarn from the reception building of the Natural History Museum. The boat departs every hour from Khao Ma Jor Pier, from 9AM to 2PM. It’ll take approximately 15-minutes to get to the island by ferry. It’s important to note for visitors that the last ferry back from Koh Samaesarn to Sattahip leaves at 4:30PM.

Koh Pai 

Koh Phai, also known as Bamboo Island, is situated roughly 20 kilometers west of Pattaya. A small island that boasts white sand beaches, you can get to this island using a direct ferry that departs from the Pattaya Pier. The ferry operates daily and departs every four hours. The journey from Pattaya to Koh Phai is approximately 30 minutes long. To enter the island and enjoy its pristine shores, you have to pay a small fee. This helps the Navy personnel that cares for the island and ensures its cleanliness and health.
